Courses
Junior cricket coaching for all ages and skill levels
Love-Cricket junior cricket coaching courses run in 10 week blocks through the Winter, starting September to December and after Christmas January to March. Sessions take place indoors at purpose-built sports facilities in York. Courses are divided into groups, to cater for different ages and skill levels:
BEGINNERS AND UNDER 9’S ACADEMY
For boys and girls who are complete newcomers to the sport, or those with a little cricket experience, with an appetite to learn the game. Designed to prepare players for participation in the Under 9’s Incrediball league. Incrediball is a soft plastic ball, widely used for training and match play, and is an intermediate step towards hardball cricket.
UNDER 13/15’S ACADEMY
With a focus on player technical development, net practice and coaching drills, this course is the ideal preparation for boys and girls looking to play competitive hardball cricket.
ELITE DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
Aimed at children from 8 to 15 playing or aspiring to play representative cricket, this course offers more intensive coaching and training in smaller groups (maximum 5 per coach) using video analysis to enhance technique over 9 weeks starting 5th October and is strictly limited on places. Our Elite coaches include Mick Pickering, a long-standing and highly respected Elite Level 3 ECB coach. In the last year we are proud of our boys and girls from the course who have gone on to represent Yorkshire Under 19’s, Yorkshire (various Junior ages), North Yorkshire and a range of representative teams in York and surrounding areas.
For advice on which course is most appropriate for you, please call 07542 900140 or email steve@love-cricket.com and our coaching team will be pleased to help.

Coaching
England Cricket Board Level 2 coaching
Love-Cricket Courses are overseen by our Academy Director, George Brown, Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Coach Of The Year 2014. George has a successful track record in coaching junior cricket teams, guiding York’s Our Lady Queen of Martyrs RC Primary School to the Asda Kwikcricket finals at Leicestershire’s Grace Road and coaching players who have gone on to represent York Taverners and North Yorkshire.
With over 30 years combined experience, all our coaches are qualified to England Cricket Board (ECB) Level 2 and DBS checked. Our coaches have included a Men’s Scotland International, a Ladies Welsh International as well as guest coaching appearances from Matthew Fisher, the current Yorkshire first team star.
Each Love-Cricket course follows a structured approach, whereby students develop a full range of core cricket skills, including batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping, as well as overall tactical appreciation.
“Coaching is thoroughly professional, but always fun and enjoyable, so that not only do students learn sound technique, but develop a real passion for the game”.
Joe Ashdown, Yorkshire Cricket Board
